How To Keep Your Crew and Make The Company Happy

Every managers problem is how to keep their crew from transferring to other company. The harsh reality is that they don’t like you anymore that’s why they transfer. But what if you can find a way to keep them, would you spend a few minutes reading further?

Every time an employee transfer to another company, you will hear the reason the salary is higher than the previous. But it is never the same to others. Not all will agree that it is always about the salary. A good manager is being able to keep the retention of the employee on its high level. Motivation is one factor that makes them stay. A motivated crew or employee is a happy employee.

Another reason for their stay is friendship. They already build the relationship that they never get from their previous or other company they’ve worked with. If you manage to be their friends, you’ve gained a loyal employee in your company. Let’s find out what else you need…

Employee Retention Reflects A Successful Business

Minimizing hiring the wrong people helps in fixing 50% of the retention problem. During the hiring process you must detect early the qualities that you are looking in an employee.

Do they have the right attitude? Do they have the right skills? Are they willing to improve their career through your programs (if you have career programs)? And, do they plan on working with you for long term (5 to 10 yrs.) or temporary. If you can detect it early, your chance of getting higher retention rate increases.

What if your hiring process is good but still retention is poor? Then you have to look within yourself as a manager. Sometimes it is poor employee or crew relationship that causes people to leave the company. Poor management is a very serious problem and must be addressed immediately. Otherwise it will be a continuous disease in your company and the more it last longer the more you loose employee.

If you keep up both proper hiring and good employee relation and you want to extend further your successful retention program; include employee engagement. Motivate your employee, change your behavior from good to awesome.

Directly ask your employee what will make them happy. Why they want to stay? Why would they want to leave (in case they want to)? Do they know the purpose of their role in their team and the company? How do they want to be treated? What do you need in your workplace.

These are simple but effective way of knowing your employee. The information you’ll get is enough to fire up ideas on how you can improve yourself, and introduce programs for your company.

Keep Their Morale High

Showing to your crew that you care is one of the best way to reward them. And, extending that care to the people that matters to them (their family) is the best gesture that you care. Provide health benefits for your employee and their family. Livelihood projects and other small business ventures that will involved your employee makes them proud to be part of your company. Think of building a community within your company. A happy and satisfied community of employee or crew.

Whenever a crew or employee goes above and beyond expectations, recognize them. It is the proudest joy of your employee to be recognized and that their managers know them.

If a customer provide a positive comment to your employee or crew, inform them about it. This means that their hard work pays off and a satisfied customer is a sign that their doing their job the right way and inline with the company’s goal.

Build Friendship While Working

Allow yourself to be available and approachable. Taking time to hear your employees concerns and ideas builds better relationship and friendship. Remember that time is a very rare commodity for managers, so if you go an extra effort in giving them just a couple of your time to listen, it is enough to make their day worthwhile.

If they make a mistake, take necessary action according to the company’s guidelines and move on. Don’t entertain grudges. Recover from your anger quickly and move on. Or better yet, don’t get angry. There are other ways to face a work related problem. Anger never resolves a problem, it actually adds up to the problem.

Also, be gentle to yourself and acquire only positive things. Negative thoughts and ideas adds to your stress. Always think that there is a way to to be positive, and you’ll find out that your actions can help improve your relationship with your employees.

In order for your employee to care, you must first show them that you care. Your action transcends to your employee. If they see that you are good to them, they return the favor as well. Treat them the way you would treat your CEO or customers.

Everything you’ve read will not be enough if you don’t take action. And besides, it is very simple to remember what to do. Just remember to keep employee engagement open, keep their morale high, and allow to build up friendship. If you can do that, then you have solve half of your employee retention problem.
